Brusho Tree - art journal by Ewelina Gryglak

Hello! Ewelina here again.
Today, I have for you a quick and fun art journal entry with Brusho powders.
I like playing in my art journal when I don't really have a lot of time but have an urge to do something creative. Between doing the washing and cooking dinner, I grab my journal and some paints and just play.

This time, I opted for a simple tree stencil and some texture paste (mixed white gesso with some 13arts 'magic powder'), which dried creating some deep crackles.

Why crackles? Well, the tend to let the pigment in and that way create additional impression of dimension and texture.

Once my tree was dry, I sprinkled Bursho powders all over the page.

Shades of green on the trow crown, light brown on the trunk and shades of blue on the background around the tree.

I then lightly sprayed it with water and watched the magic happen...

For me, the best part of playing with Brusho is that you never completely know how the pigment crystals are going to dissolve and what the final result will be.

The one thing I do know for definite is that it will look cool! And it does!

Thank you for stopping by today.
See you next time!

Brusho Butterflies by Sarah Allan

Hi Everyone!

Sarah here with you today on the blog and I have some cute butterfly cards to share ....

I have used background stamps along with versamark Ink, WOW white embossing powder combined with brusho to create a lovely textured backgrounds.

Then I created some coloured backgrounds with Brusho by spraying some watercolour card and tapping brusho over top and drying off with my heat tool.    These were them used to diecut some layered butterflies as embelishments to complete the cards..

I created two 5 x 7 cards using a Hero Arts background stamp called Crazy Quilts and two 5 x 5 cards using an Impression Obsession background stamp called Ticking.

In the 5x7 cards above I used Moss Green Brusho for the card on the left and then I did a rainbow effect with the card on the right using Red, Orange, Sunset Yellow, Lime Green and Ultramarine by mixing the brusho with water then applying direct to the card with a brush.

For the two 5x5 cards I used Ultramarine (L) and Sandstone (R)

Rainbow

Moss Green

Sandstone

Ultramarine

I hope these cards give you some inspiration for you to used your background stamps, embossing powders and brusho together :)

Art Journal Play with Susanne

Hi my dear crafty friends!

Susanne here today and I'd like to share a page in my art journal with you. I used Brushos in two different ways. One time I sprinkled them to my page, the other time I used it like watercolour from a palette.

Start by adding a colour arrangement with Olive Green and Vermillion. Add water with a brush to your page and sprinkle the pigments into it. Spread it around with a brush until you like the result. Let it dry.

Use Prussian Blue and mix it with water on your palette. Apply the ink with a brush.

Add some background stamping. I used different stamps from Rubber Dance together with StazOn Ink. My focal element is a printed butterfly on some gelli printed paper.

Thank you for stopping by today!
xx Susanne.

How To Create The Wisdom Art Journal Page

Hello all

I am back on the blog today with a new art journal page. I went with water as this month's theme is Nature.

I created the background by adding a few blobs of Blue and Purple Aztec Metallic Luster to a Gelli Plate and then blending them with a brayer. Next i placed a sheet of paper from my pad over the top and smoothed it down to cover the page with paint. I mixed Turquoise with  modeling paste and applied it to a stencil across the page. I then added drywall tape around the page and painted gesso over it and added gesso to the center of the page. I added stamps and then another stencil but used Sea Green with modeling paste.

I printed out the images onto smooth card and painted them by mixing a little powder with a water pen and using it like a water colour. I then cut out the images and glued them into place.

I printed out the sentiment and cut it to fit the page. I then painted it over with Sea Green so it fit in with the other colours.

Thank you for visiting

Fantasy Feather by Terri Koszler

Today I am sharing my mixed media Fantasy feather with you.  I wanted to show how you can use different paint mediums on one  project. So grab yourself a cuppa and lets take a look at how I put my project together.

I started by sketching out a feather onto a piece of gesso coated canvas board using a regular pencil.
I then applied some masking solution to the feather and allowed this to dry.

The next step was to create the background using Brusho, I applied some Ultra Marine, Emerald Green and Purple to a wet surface and then spritzed with lots of water. I tilted the board to help move the colour around and then put it to one side to dry.

I removed the masking fluid and set about painting the feather with Aztec Lustre paints, I applied several coats for a solid covering and allowed it to dry naturally.  Next i set about adding detail to the feather with a black pen, adding doodles as I went.

I used a silver paint pen to add some wispy hair like detail between the feather segments, then flicked some white paint onto the background. I placed a few sequins and wrote a quote onto card and applied each word individually to fill around the feather.

I hope you've enjoyed today's post, Please leave me a post and tell me what you think of my project and the use of multiple paint mediums.

Terri
